one life. one coat.
i started sketching this coat during my first year of design school. coming from a year round outdoor sport habit and using the same shell coat for a decade with satisfaction, it had finally started falling apart. this sad fact triggered the development of syli™, a coat that would last a lifetime of adventure
what i loved about my previous coat was it’s year round usability and versatility. what i didn’t love was the waist cut design and parts that didn’t stand the test of time, such as velcro and weak zips. then i thought about a woman’s life cycle, and realized i didn’t want to shop for another coat if i had a baby, and added a front panel right away. i wanted the perfect coat, that would go with anything, any time, anywhere
after 5 years of development, prototyping, and testing, syli™ was published

syli™ high-tech women’s coat a simple coat made from high quality, ultralight, waterproof materials. this means that it repels water, breathes, and feels comfortable to the skin all the same time. it has big pockets, and all the seams are waterproofed. the color is a lustrous dark gray on the outside, and light grey on the inside
the coat is as light as a feather. however, i chose to use standard, bulky zippers for added zest and durability. no components that wear out quickly, such as velcro, are included in the design
the toughest decision was to choose between a 3 layer and a 2 layer material and structure. the quality of the materials available turned the scale towards the 3 layered design. this means that the coat is very cool, but also much lighter than it would be with a 2 layer structure. however it is, depending on the user, at least a 3 season coat with underwear for extra warmth
the elegant slate gray of the main material fits a lot of occasions. sportswear is not popularized in formal wear, but syli™ offers an opportunity for that. there’s a permanently attached belt on backside of the coat, that is more typical to formal wear, rendering syli™ a bit more sophisticated than usual functional wear
the sleeves are so lengthy, that hand wear is optional. the hood, cuffs and hems are all tightenable, which gives more control of the micro climate inside the coat. sometimes it is important to restrict the air flow and other times you want to increase it, depending on the circumstances. i left the upper part of the coat femininely fitted for purely aesthetic reasons

syli™ high-tech women’s coat is the flagship product of eetteri studio, as it embodies the founder’s long term experience-based expertise in challenging weather conditions, functional clothing structures and design knowledge
however, it is worth noting that although syli™ can be worn while trekking, it is not a garment intended for continuous contact abrasion. the coat’s coating can be renewed, but it is also very finely structured, and continuous impacts wears out the fine materials faster
i hope that syli™ serves its users as long and faithfully as a quality design possibly can. i did not make any compromises with it, but based on my experience, it is the best possible product. i believe that it is best suited to quality-conscious users who value optimal performance in themselves and in their belongings
